COGS IN THE WHEEL

When we start a new venture, we first focus our thoughts in our mind on what we want or desire to accomplish. The clearer the detail in our mind, the more power that will be developed for starting the wheels of motion to accomplish our wishes. If we can not see clearly or leave out detail, then we may not achieve exactly what we wanted. Not having detail and focus may cause the wheels of motion to stop before achieving our wishes - this is sometimes called failure.

When we set a plan in motion, we need to see exactly what we want - we need to visualize the outcome of what we want, we must only see the results of victory. Letting ourselves fall victim to the "what ifs" cancels our focus, and eventually what may have been a good dream, becomes a self-defeat memory for us to think of in the future. Allowing doubt to creep into our wishes is not acceptable for the winner.

So, in the planning stages of bringing about our desired results, we plan our desired results just as if we were building our house. We visualize what we want, we draw the plans and we then set the wheels in motion by letting the house builder handle the fabrication as to our plans and drawings. From this point on, we stay out of the way of the builders and let them do their job.

In a short time our home (our dreams) will be completed as to our plans, and ready for us just as we planned it. If, on the other hand, we are not sure of what we want and let doubt slip in, we start changing the plans and eventually the workers walk away, due to our uncertainty of what we want. When we throw cogs in the wheels of motion, the wheels begin slowing down, eventually stopping and our dreams are unfulfilled, except for the memory of the "what ifs."

Just as in contemplation or meditation, we first start by emptying all thoughts and once this is done, we focus on our plan or object of meditation. If we meditate inside the body, it could be the hair on our head or our skin or our teeth or whatever. If we are meditating outside the body, we could be surrounding a loved one or an enemy in loving kindness.

Any thoughts or doubts that slip in only stop us from achieving success in our meditations.

Now that we have several examples in front of us, we may look back over our past and check if things we have not accomplished were caused by the wheels of success being slowed down or stopped prematurely, ending our plans or dreams. Like in a daydream fantasy, the more we think about it, the more detail is added to it, and the more real the fanatsy becomes- sometimes taking on a life of its own and obsessing us.

What we are trying to get at here, is to show that, once we have successfully made our plan and put it into action, we need to allow time for the wheels to turn and bring success to our dreams.
