CONNECTIONS
We try our best and still, it seems, we have slow progress in changing our path, compared to others and their rapid advancement in meditation and new ways. When we begin clearing out leftovers from the past, this includes from the total past. Currents we have setup from the time we were a child to present. Once we have started receiving some results from our efforts and meditation, we surely know there is more to life than this physical body that keeps us inside.
The physical body is good, but no matter how much muscle we build up, or how far we can run, or how far we can swim, the body still is only a physical body. Strong body, perhaps, but give it a few days without food or water, then check it. The mind also is the same way- give it a few days with nothing to think about and the waffling may start- feed it bad food and soon there will be trouble in dreamland. Feed the body and the mind good food, and we are guaranteed good results, but we can not depend on just feeding ourselves in this way. We need to also feed our higher aspirations and reinforce our body and mind.
This being settled, we can now look at what we kind of food for thought and body we should find for ourselves. If we believe in past life, and meditate on this, then we know we have connections to those experiences, good or bad, and if we have developed our concentration, we may be able to pick up the threads and help ourselves a little. An example of this could be, that someone's child can play excellent piano or musical instrument at an early age with little or no training. Perhaps the child has some unexplainable ability to know things that would not seem normal.
So, if we can pick up these threads (from the past) unconsciously, then we may also be able to open the door a little with some effort and training, but we are concerned, at this time, about the effects of unconscious connections and influences from the past. Just as our future is judged by our past deeds, in this life, we still have connections to a further past, that also influences us- some consciously and some unconsciously. As someone has lived their many past years- will be the prediction for the next years and their life
With our meditations, we can pick up these influences and use them to help us, or if we open up too much to these influences, we may be finished in our advancement. With meditation, we should be able to notice these feelings and keep ourselves balanced and learn our direction for the future, and what we can or should do to benefit our life, and the influence we have on others around us. Not only have we learned how to open the door, but also how to close the door. If we cannot close the door, then we would be helpless to the influences we have opened the door for.
Just like in a tub for bathing, we turn the water on and fill the tub with water, if we do not know how to turn the water off, then we are gonna have a problem. If the tub is over our head and we have not learned to swim- trouble for sure.
Knowing how to close the door, when needed, is more important than knowing how to open the door.
Opening and closing the door becomes just as natural as turning on and off a water spigot, when we have a little experience.
